Psalm 23: He’s Better (Part 3)

Psalm 23:1-6
1 The Lord is my shepherd;
 I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
 for His name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
 For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
 all the days of my life;
 And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.

Psalm 23:6
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.

#1 He is Better Because He is Good

Exodus 33:13-19
13 Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.”
14 And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
15 Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. 16 For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.”
17 So the Lord said to Moses, “I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name.”
18 And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.”
19 Then He said, “I will make all My GOODNESS pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”

Psalm 119:68
68 You are GOOD, and do GOOD;
Teach me Your statutes.

Romans 8:28
28 And we know that all things work together for GOOD to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

James 1:16-18
16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every GOOD gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. 18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.

#2 He is Better Because He is Merciful

Micah 7:18
18 Who is a God like You,
Pardoning iniquity
And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage?
He does not retain His anger forever,
Because He delights in MERCY.

Psalm 101:1
1 I will sing of mercy and justice;
To You, O Lord, I will sing praises.

Psalm 32:2
2 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity…

Romans 4:3
3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was ACCOUNTED to him for righteousness.”

Romans 4:22-25
22 And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.”
23 Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was IMPUTED to him, 24 but also for us. It shall be IMPUTED to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, 25 who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.

2 Corinthians 5:19
19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not IMPUTING their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

2 Corinthians 5:21
21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Lamentations 3:22-25
22 Through the Lord’s MERCIES we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I hope in Him!”
25 The Lord is GOOD to those who wait for Him,
To the soul who seeks Him.

Luke 15:1-7
1 Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. 2 And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them.” 3 So He spoke this parable to them, saying:
4 “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ 7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.

#3 He is Better because He is Eternal

Revelation 1:8
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “Who is and Who was and Who is to come, the Almighty.”

Psalm 23:6
6 “…and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

John 14:1-3
1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s HOUSE are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for YOU. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

1 John 2:25
25 And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life.

Isaiah 53:7
7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
Yet He opened not His mouth;
He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,
And as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
So He opened not His mouth.

Isaiah 53:4-6
4 Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

Ezekiel 34:11-12
11 ‘For thus says the Lord God: “Indeed I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out. 12 As a shepherd seeks out his flock on the day he is among his scattered sheep, so will I seek out My sheep and deliver them from all the places where they were scattered on a cloudy and dark day.

Mark 15:33
33 Now when the sixth hour had come, there was DARKNESS over the whole land until the ninth hour
