How To Overcome: Part 1

Are you tired of feeling defeated, stuck in the same struggles, and wondering why lasting victory seems so far away? The truth is, you were never meant to live that way. God has made an extraordinary power available to every believer, and it starts with understanding who the Holy Spirit is and what He came to do.
Jesus identified two reasons people go astray: not knowing the Scriptures and not knowing the power of God. Both are essential. Scripture gives us structure. The Holy Spirit gives us power. You cannot have one without the other and expect to walk in lasting freedom.
Peter is one of the most powerful examples of this truth. Before Pentecost, he relied on his own determination and denied Jesus three times. After Pentecost, everything changed. The same man stood before thousands and preached boldly without fear. The difference was the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8 promises that believers will receive dunamis power when the Holy Spirit comes upon them. That word dunamis means miraculous, explosive, dynamite-level power. And it is available to you right now.
The Holy Spirit gives specific power over real struggles including temptation, fear, anxiety, depression, addiction, discouragement, and the attacks of the enemy. Romans 8:11 reminds us that the very Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead now lives inside every believer. If death could not stop Jesus, then no circumstance has ultimate authority over a Spirit-filled believer.
In the Old Testament, the Spirit came upon people and remarkable things happened. In the New Testament, something even greater took place. The Spirit came to dwell inside believers permanently. John 14:16 describes Him as a comforter, counselor, helper, intercessor, advocate, strengthener, and standby who will remain with us forever. He is not just visiting. He is living inside of you.
Staying filled with the Holy Spirit is not a one-time event. Ephesians 5:18 uses a Greek tense that means keep on being filled. Just like a car needs regular refueling, we need to continually invite the Holy Spirit to fill us again through daily time in God's Word, consistent prayer, wholehearted worship, obedience to His promptings, and fellowship with other believers.
God does not always remove every storm, but He always provides the strength to walk through it. Paul prayed three times for his thorn to be removed, and God's answer was that His grace was sufficient. Storms reveal where our strength comes from. For the Spirit-filled believer, that strength always comes from the Lord.
Here is the truth that changes everything: you are not fighting for victory. You are fighting from victory. Jesus already secured your victory at the cross. Romans 8:37 declares that we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us. The power of God inside you is greater than any power the enemy can bring against you.
Topics covered include: Holy Spirit power, overcoming fear and anxiety, living a Spirit-filled life, how to be filled with the Holy Spirit, Christian victory, overcoming temptation, walking in the Spirit, dunamis power, Romans 8:37, Acts 1:8, Ephesians 5:18, and how to overcome defeat as a Christian.
I got a lot of scripture to cover. But here's what I know. I know that I want the word of God to speak to you, not me speaking to you. Amen.
I'm just a vessel, and so I want the word of God to speak to you. But I want to say some things before we get started. But the title of my message, I don't know if they got it, is how to Overcome. And I don't know about you, but I'm tired of people living defeated in their lives, especially Christians. As a Christian, we should not live defeated in our life.
We should not live with struggles in our life. We should not go day in and day out and not receive victory. Walk in victory, understand victory. And so I'm going to try to help you today if I can. And like I said, I'm going to have to get going here.
But the Holy Spirit. Let me say some things. The Holy Spirit is the cure for approval. Approval. I'm going to say this again.
The Holy Spirit is the cure for approval. A lot of people look other things for approval, but I'm telling you, the Holy Spirit is the cure for the approval. The Holy Spirit will deliver us from the approval of man. But here's what the Lord spoke to me. The Holy Spirit, though, will help us.
Line us up for the approval of God. And so the Holy Spirit will give you the power to overcome. Look at this. Matthew, chapter 22, verses 23 to 29. 23, 29.
I'm gonna have them put them up on the screen and I want to show you. This is Jesus and the Sadducees talking. And I want to read this. Matthew, chapter 22, verses 23 through 29. Do you have it, Phyllis?
Praise the Lord. Amen. I do. Working quickly. I know.
He said the same day, the Sadducees who say there is no resurrection came to him and asked him, saying, teacher Moses said, if a man dies having no children, the bro his brother shall many his wife and raise up offspring for his brother. Watch what he said in verse 24, 25. There he is. Now there was us. Seven brothers.
First died after he had married. And having no offspring, left his wife to his brother. Likewise, they hid the second also and the third even to the seventh. Watch what he says. And he said, the last of the woman died also.
Now I want you to see this. This woman married three people and three people died. Can I tell you I don't want to marry her? Praise the Lord. Anyway.
And so he said, last of the woman. The woman finally died. Praise the Lord. Amen. And therefore, in the resurrection, whose width of the 7 will shall be wife of the 7 will she be.
Watch this. For they all had her. Jesus answered and said to them, watch this. Here's what I wanted you to see. You are mistaken.
Not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. He said, you don't know the scriptures nor the power of God. How are we going to overcome? We must know the scriptures and we must know the power of God. Scriptures give us structure, but the power.
Sorry. The Holy Spirit gives us power. In order to overcome, we must have these two things. We can't settle for having just scriptures and no power, or having power with no scriptures. Now I want to talk about revival because I believe revival is stirring in America.
In fact, I don't believe it. I know it's stirring in America again. And so revival stops because people chase the Spirit and they forget the scriptures. How do I know that is Zeus's stranger? They had the power, but they didn't have the scriptures.
And how do I know they didn't have the Scriptures? Because the Scripture says to give and it shall be given back unto you. The Scripture says to tithe. And guess why Zuza street stopped it's because they went broke and couldn't pay the bills. So you can have the power, but you don't have scripture.
And it won't last. But then, on the other hand, revival never change. Get started because we hold on to scriptures and we don't open up for the Holy Spirit or the power of God in our services. But can I tell you, I know this church. I know these pastors.
Thank you for allowing us to come. I apologize. I should already said that. Thank you so much. It's an honor and a privilege.
It really is to be here. I preached twice in the old church, now in the new one. Praise the Lord. This is a dream. Dream come true for y'.
All. It's a dream come true for me. And here I am standing in the midst of a dream. Amen. And so revival will come, though, when we have scriptures and we have the Spirit producing the power of God.
Can anybody say amen to that? Zechariah 4, 6. Let me get started. It said, not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord. A lot of people are trying to do things in their own strength.
Can I tell you, humanity has limits. Humanity, ability has limits. Intelligence has limits. Education has limits. Money has limits.
Influence has limits. But can I tell you, the Holy Spirit has no limits. The word of God has no limits. Listen. Peter tried to serve God in his own strength.
And he even declared this. He said, even if everyone else leaves you, I never will. Yet before sunrise, guess what he did to Jesus? He denied him. And so why did he deny him?
Because the determination without the Spirit will ultimately fall. You must have the Scriptures and the Spirit. Anybody with me today? Now watch this. After Pentecost, though I love what happened to Peter, the same Peter stood before thousands without fear.
Because now the power of God had came upon him. The difference wasn't Peter. The difference was what came on Peter. And it's called the Holy Ghost. Amen.
Acts, chapter one, verse three. Here it is. He gives us power to overcome. He said, you shall receive power. Acts 1:8.
Acts 1:8. He said, you shall receive power. After that, the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You all know this. The Greek word for power is dunamis, which means miraculous, explosive power.
Well, praise the Lord. Y' all don't get happy or nothing. Amen. It said, you shall receive power. After that, the Holy Spirit has come upon you.
That Greek word is dunamis. It means dynamite. It means miraculous. It means explosive power. It fell upon them.
Watch this. It came upon them. Everybody say it came upon them. I want you to see this. I want you to see this.
Throughout the Bible. It came upon them or it fell upon them. Watch this. Acts 2, 4. Watch what he said.
They were all filled. And the Spirit. Sorry, let me say Acts 2, 4. Acts 2, 4, he said. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit or the Holy Ghost.
And they began to speak with other tongues. Watch this. God doesn't merely comfort us, he empowers us. How many can shout? Amen.
He empowers us. Watch this. I want my wife, if she can, or my daughter. Whichever. Bring me my illustration real quick.
Right there in that bag, if you don't mind. Praise the Lord. He empowers us. I said he's empower us. They got an illustration, I think, to put up the hairdryer.
Praise the Lord. Watch this. The Lord showed me this back some time ago. I was at a hotel. We were actually in Kentucky, preaching.
And I get up early on Sunday mornings and I start praying and start studying. And then I get ready before my wife gets ready so I can get out of the way. Praise the Lord. Because she needs more time. For some reason.
She's already a beautiful Amen, but she needs more time. Amen. Whatever. I try to respect her. Amen.
I go down and get her coffee. Talking about marriage. I can tell you about marriage. Let me tell you about marriage. I'm gonna throw this in there real quick.
You just need to say two things, guys. You just need to say, yes, ma', am, and I'm sorry. Praise the Lord. I went to Missouri. Watch this.
I went to Missouri two weeks ago. The dog used the restroom in the house. It's still my fault. I'm preaching in Missouri. It's still my fault.
Amen. I didn't walk the dog before I left. The dog couldn't be walked the whole week. I was gone to Missouri. Praise the Lord.
It's my fault. Fault. I'm sorry. I should have done better. Should have flew back, walked the dog, flew back.
Amen. Yes, ma'. Am. I'm sorry. I mean, it just.
It's just how it is. Praise the Lord. And so you'll be happily married. Praise the Lord. Amen.
Just trying to help you. So watch this. My illustration. He said he's empowered us. Now watch this.
I was at the hotel and I plugged. The hair dryer is plugged up. And I was blow drying my hair and it went off. And I was like, no, no, the devil's a liar. That's my favorite saying is the devil is A liar.
And so I plugged it back in. I was like, what happened? I plugged it back in. I did my hair again. It went out again.
I said, no, no, no, I don't have time for this now. I got to get out of my wife's way. Praise the Lord. I got to hurry. And so I plugged that back in, started doing my hair again, and it fell out.
And when it fell out again, the Holy Spirit spoke to me. The Holy Spirit said, that's why a lot of Christians end. They'll plug in sometimes to the power and it works. But then sometimes they unplug and then the power is not there. Can I tell you?
We've got to plug into the power, but we got to stay plugged into the power. And the power source is the Holy Spirit. The power source is so important in our life. Why? Because without the power source, we can do nothing.
The Holy Spirit gives us power to overcome. Watch this. Watch this. Let me help you today. He gives you power to overcome temptation.
He gives you power to overcome fear. He gives you power to overcome anxiety. He gives you power to overcome depression. He gives you power to overcome addiction. He gives you power over discouragement.
He gives you power over persecution. And he gives you power over the attacks of the enemy. Romans, chapter 8, verse 11, says, the very spirit that raised Jesus from the dead now lives inside of us. Hallelujah. Think about that.
The resurrection power. The resurrection power. That God raised Jesus with his right arm from the dead, and he rose from the dead with the keys of death, hell and the grave. It lives on the inside of us. If death couldn't stop Jesus, then no circumstances have authority over spirit filled believer.
Anybody with me today? Mark 1, Mark 1, chapter 10. Sorry. Mark, chapter 1, verse 10 and 11. Mark, chapter 1, Mark, chapter 1, verse 10and 11.
Watch what he said. And when he came up out of the water, this is Jesus. At once He, John, saw the heavens from open, and the Holy Spirit, like a dove, coming down to enter into him. Everybody say into him. And there came a voice out from within heaven.
You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Can I tell you that's the same thing that the Lord is saying to you is, you are my beloved Son. You are my beloved daughter. I am well pleased. Now watch what happened in Luke, chapter three, verse 22.
I want to talk about this. Luke, chapter three, verse 22 dot Watch what he said. And the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven. Here it is again, saying you are my son, my beloved.
In you I am well pleased and I find delight. How many know the Lord finds delight in you. Amen. If you don't know that he does. He finds delight in you.
You are his mouthpiece. You are his living, breathing mouthpiece in this world. He's done all he can do now. He sent the Holy Spirit to live on the inside of you. Amen.
And so, watch this. The Spirit come upon Jesus. The Spirit fell upon Jesus. Watch this. Upon is important.
I want to show you something. The Old Testament. And I'm just going to go through these really quick. The Old Testament, the Spirit came upon Samson and he broke the ropes that tied him up. In other words, the Spirit came upon Samson and he broke bondages off.
Hallelujah. Number two. The Spirit came upon Ezekiel and he received Revelation Number three. The Spirit came upon Saul and he prophesied and was visibly transformed. He went from Saul, changing his name to Paul.
Hallelujah. The Spirit came upon Micah. He received courage and he spoke truth. Truth. Verse number five.
The Spirit came upon Mary and the power of the Most High, the Bible says, overshadowed her. And guess what happened? Jesus was birthed. The impossible became possible because the Holy Spirit came upon Mary. Hallelujah.
Watch this. After the Spirit came upon Jesus, watch what happened. He only then started doing miracles. He only then started healing the sick. He only then started casting out devils.
He only then started preaching that the kingdom of God has come from heaven to earth. And then after that, the Spirit of God came upon the disciples. Praise God. They become bold and they became witnesses and they reached nations and they began to see miracle signs and wonder, wonders. But I'm here to tell you, John 14:16.
I don't know that they have this verse, but in the New Testament it said, I will ask the Father and he will give you another comforter, a counselor, a helper, an intercessor, an advocate, a strengthener and a standby that he may remain with you forever. Somebody shout, Amen. Watch this. In the Old Testament, the Spirit came upon. In the New Testament, the Spirit came in.
Somebody shout, he's in me. Somebody say it again. He's in me. Why can we not overcome? Because we don't realize truly what the Word said.
Greater is he that's in me. Because we have the power to overcome anything that the devil throws at us. But we must have the Scripture and we must have the power of God. I love to say this, and I've been saying this for, I don't know, a year or two. God's Power is greater than the devil's power.
I said God's power is greater than the devil's power. Anytime you're facing anything, you need to encourage yourself, as David did. Encourage yourself in the Lord and say, God's power that is in me is greater than the devil's power that's against me. Hallelujah. The Greek word.
I want to show you this. I've never seen this before. The Greek word of coming upon or coming in, fell upon. Come on. Upon.
Come upon. The Greek word is epitito. But listen to what it means. It means a closeness. It means to embrace.
Come here, Ashton, real quick. Hurry, hurry, hurry. Come here. Run up the steps. Watch this.
This is my daughter. This is not another girl. So don't start rumors about me. Praise the Lord. Amen.
Somebody say, ah, he's hugging somebody else besides his wife. Yes. Call my daughter. So watch this. This is what he meant when he said, the Holy Spirit came upon.
When the Holy Spirit come in. Watch this. It's the Holy Spirit actually bringing himself close to you. And he's actually hugging you.
He's actually hugging you. Why is he hugging you? Because, listen, everybody needs a hug.
Well, praise the Lord. Amen. Y' all pretty weak on that. Amen. I said, everybody needs a hug.
But think about it. When somebody hugs you, what do you think? Automatically, oh, it seems to appear that they love you more because their action is greater than their words. And so the Holy Spirit comes to hug you. So I don't know if you've been hugged lately, but I'm telling you, today, the Holy Spirit is coming in this room today.
And he's wanting to hug you. He's wanting to hold you. He's wanting to be close to you. Why? Why?
Why? Because he wants you to hear his voice. And then he wants to help you walk this life. He wants to help you every step of the way. Because here's the thing about the Old Testament, it only came upon.
But in the New Testament, it came in. So the Holy Spirit will never leave you because he's in you. Hallelujah. So watch this. Every day that you wake up, you need to feel that the Holy Spirit is hugging you.
And he's holding you and he wants to be close to you. Now watch this. Some people don't like affection. So here's what some people do.
It's amazing that I'm using her. It wasn't on purpose, but she has sometime a big a. You know what that is? Attitude. But she's doing great.
She's doing Better. She is great. She is great. That was way years ago. That was years ago.
So praise the Lord. That was old accent. Amen. Anyway, so watch this. So sometimes we don't want to talk to people.
Sometimes we don't want to hug from people.
Sometimes we don't feel like praying.
She plays the part great. I mean, I'm just. Anyway, praise the Lord. I love you. So watch this.
The Holy Spirit is always trying to talk. The Holy Spirit's always trying to move. But sometimes we are throwing our hands up and not allowing him to come in. He's not allowing. We're not allowing him to be close.
Because listen, the Bible says that the Holy Spirit is like a gentleman. He will not force his way. But he's only going where he's welcomed. He's only open where he's received. He's only open to somebody that's willing and obedient.
And ask. Watch this. Watch this. You have to ask for the Holy Spirit to help you. You have to ask for the Holy Spirit to fill you.
You have to ask for the Holy Spirit to guide you. You have to ask him why? Because he's a gentleman. And I don't know about years ago, but my mom taught me years ago. You have to ask before you do something.
It's not. You don't go in there and just do whatever you want to do in somebody else's house. You ask, can you come in? You ask for something to drink. You ask for something to eat.
You ask if you can sit down. Amen. Come on, somebody. And so she taught me always to ask. And then you say, yes, ma', am, no, ma', am, yes, sir or no, sir, sir, It's a gentleman.
The Holy Spirit is a gentleman. He will not just all of a sudden grab you and hug you and force himself on you. No, no, no, listen. So how many people that. The Holy Spirit is just waiting on you.
He's waiting on you. He's sitting here waiting on you. And he's wanting to help you so bad. He's wanting to get you through the trial, get you through the situation, give you power to overcome all the obstacles of the devil. But you won't open up and receive his hug, his embrace, his infilling, his indwelling.
Anybody with me? Thank you, baby. I love you. Love you, love you.
Listen. Galatians 5, 16. What does he tell us? Walk in the Spirit. Watch this.
But I say, walk and live habitually in the Holy Spirit. Responsive to and controlled and guided by. Watch that. Responsive to you. Got to Be responsive to him.
You got to offer him in, welcome him in, ask him to come in. And then you be controlled. Then you be guided. Why? Because that's what he'll do.
Then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh, of the human nature without God. Now, I'm not here to preach hard to you. I just want to help you. Is that all right? I say, is that all right?
Many believers listen. Not y'. All. This is the people I'm preaching to next week. I don't know where I'm going, but anyway, next week.
Many believers spend their lives trying to stop sinning. Listen to me. Many believers try themselves to stop sinning. But God's answers, is it simply trying harder? His answer is, walk closer.
His answer is to be open, that the Spirit of God may walk closer. Not only closer, but in you. And if the Spirit of God walks closer to you or in you. Watch this. When we're filled with the Spirit, sinful desires began losing their grip.
The closer. Watch this. Listen, it's not for you to figure out. We need the scriptures and we need the power. To me, it's the power.
Twins. Listen. It's for you to run into him and to allow him to get everything out of you that needs to be out of you. Watch this. Watch this.
His answer is walking closer. When we're filled with the Spirit, sinful desires begin losing their grip. The closer we get to the fire, the colder things melt away. You don't overcome darkness by fighting darkness. You overcome darkness by running into the light or turning to the light.
The Holy Spirit is God's light on the inside of us. Watch this. Isaiah 40:31. Stay with me. Isaiah 40:31.
Watch what he said. But those who want for the Lord, who expect, who look for and hope in him, shall change and renew their strength and power. They shall lift their wings and mount up close to God as eagles mount up to the. To the sun. They shall run and not be weary.
They shall walk and not faint or become tired. Watch this. Watch this. They wait upon the Lord and to renew their strength. Notice God does not promise that you won't get tired.
Watch. He didn't promise that you. You wouldn't get tired. But when you get tired, what does he tell you to do? His scripture is going to lead you to his power.
And so he promises renewed strength. He said, let the weak say, I am strong. Come on, somebody shout, I am strong. Not based on what's going on on the outside. Not based what I'm facing.
But by basing who's close to me, basing who's hugging me, basing greater in me. Hallelujah. It's the power of the Holy Ghost. Listen. Sometimes God doesn't immediately remove the storm.
Watch this. Instead, he strengthens us to walk through it. Watch this. I want to refer to another scripture the Bible said, and I quoted earlier, his grace is sufficient. Watch this.
God, Paul prayed three times for that that messenger of Satan to be removed. And God answering him after the third time. My grace is sufficient. Watch this. In other words, he was saying, my strength is sufficient.
This is what God was saying. God does not bring the storm. Praise the Lord. Anyway, let me get on. God does not bring the storm, but when the devil brings the storm.
This is what he was telling Paul. I'm giving you strength to go through this storm through this messenger, because what, what? Watch. Watch. This was.
This was before he started building churches. And then we get over to later in the books of the Bible over there, where he says that this one thing I do. Forgetting what lies behind. Why? Because he learned how to press.
He learned how to press. He learned how to press back there. Where my grace is sufficient. My strength is sufficient. But he didn't reveal it to labor.
Hallelujah. And so I'm telling you today, God's grace is sufficient for you. Quit asking him to remove the storm. Just buckle your shoes up, put the breastplate of righteousness, get the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And rely upon the power of the Holy Ghost that lives on the inside of you.
And say, not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord. Somebody shout Amen. So watch this. Storms reveal where your strength comes from.
Where does your strength come from? Your help cometh from the Lord. Watch this. Before Pentecost, Peter was afraid of a servant girl. After Pentecost, Peter boldly preached Christ before rulers and thousands of people.
The Holy Spirit. Spirit removes fear from your life. I said, the Holy Spirit will remove fear from your life. Acts 4, 8. Watch this.
I've got to finish here. Acts 4. 8. Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit and said to the him, watch this. Then Peter, because he was filled with and controlled by the Holy Spirit, he said to them, rulers of the people and members of the council in the Sanhedrin, he started to speak the word to them.
He was fearful before he was filled. But I'm glad that he was filled and now fear had to leave him. Praise the Lord. There's no condemnation to them that are In Christ Jesus. Romans 8.
There's therefore now, no condemnation. No condemnation. Just love and acceptance. Many people wouldn't believe. My mom can tell you.
Before I got went off to Bible college and got filled with the Holy Ghost, I was shy. You wouldn't dare see me on a stage talking to this many people. People? No, sir. I'd only let one lady ever cut my hair.
That's how shy I was. I didn't want to talk to no new barber. I'm not kidding. Amen. She can tell you I was shy, I was bashful.
I wouldn't talk to no strangers, no time, no way, no how. I'd hide. But then I went to Bible college and I got filled with the Holy Ghost. And now they can't shut me up. Praise the Lord.
We're. Listen. What is it about? Listen. It's not about just talking.
It's about being bold for the kingdom of God. It's having boldness in preaching the gospel and telling people that Jesus saves, Jesus heals, Jesus delivers, and Jesus can set you free. Hallelujah. Second Timothy 1:7. I've already quoted it.
God's not giving us a spirit of fear, but a power, love and a sound mind. Watch this. Praise the Lord. I'm done. Can I have five more minutes?
Amen. Wow. Watch this. Fear says, what if I fail? Faith says, what if God shows up?
Fear says, what if I fail? Faith says, what if God shows up? Listen. It's impossible to please God without faith. And so the Holy Spirit turns fearful people into fearless witnesses.
Praise God. 2nd Timothy 3:1. Let me tell you about this. I don't know if they have this. Let me read it to you because I need you to hear this.
He said, in the last days, difficulties will come. Listen, listen. Nobody here. I'm talking about other people, but just listen. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money.
Boastful, arrogant revivers. Prideful, disobedient to parents. Unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossiper without self control. Brutal haters of good. Treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.
Holding a form of godliness but denying its power. Now, the last part of that verse says, listen. And you need to hear this part. It says, avoid such men or people as these. Avoid them.
Get away from them, you say, yeah, but they need Jesus too. Can I tell you? They're going to pull you down. Everybody said, well, Jesus hung out with sinners. Listen.
Jesus hung out with sinners. But it wasn't long before he changed sinners lives. You can't hang out with sinners. My father in law says it better. You are no match for your flesh.
You hang out with sinners long enough, the power of God will leave you. The Scriptures will leave you. And all of a sudden addiction will start coming to you. All of a sudden the wrong people will start coming to you. But if you get in with the Holy Spirit and you allow the Holy Spirit in, anybody say amen.
You allow the Holy Spirit to hug you, to fill you, to refresh you. Come on, somebody, anybody with me. Listen. He said it's not about might. Your might can't get it done.
The devil isn't afraid of human talent. The devil is not intimidated by religious activity. He isn't intimidated by that. He trembles before believers filled with the Holy Spirit. Luke 4 tells us that Jesus returned from the wilderness in the power of the Spirit.
If Jesus ministered through the Spirit's power, we certainly cannot succeed without ministering through the Spirit's power. Let me talk to you real quick about staying filled. Ephesians 5:18. Ephesians 5:18. Now close.
Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery. But ever shout, ever, ever be filled and stimulated with the Holy Spirit. Watch this. The Greek tense in this word means keep on being filled. I'm going to say it again.
Keep on being filled. Just like a car needs refueling. You got to refuel the Holy Ghost. You got to ask him to fill you again. I said, you got to ask him to feel you again.
You got to ask him to feel you again. You got to ask him to feel you again. You got to ask him to fill you again. And it's not about you getting rid of stuff. It's about you filling up with the Holy Ghost.
And he'll melt away all the stuff.
The Lord told me years ago. This is what he told me years ago. He said, if you'll quit focusing on what is wrong and focus on what is right, what is wrong will start to leave you alone. I'm going to say it again. He said, if you'll start focusing on what is right and not what, not what is wrong, then what is wrong will start to leave you alone.
If you start focusing on what is right. Encourage yourself in the Lord. He didn't say to discourage yourself in the Lord. Can I tell you you're going to mess up? You're going to say a wrong word, you might do a wrong action.
But guess what? His grace is sufficient. Paul didn't get it right. Saul didn't get it right, Peter. Didn't get it right.
Watch this. He not only denied Jesus, but he cut off a man's ear and he still got filled with the Holy Ghost and he still was used by God. You know why? Because when you come to God and you ask him to forgive you, he washes you passed away as if you've never done it ever in Jesus name. So he picks you up and makes you a brand new species that's never been before.
So let me finish this. Let me finish this. Watch this. Acts 4:31. Watch what happened here.
Acts 4:31. And when they had prayed, the place in which they were assembled was shaken and they were all filled. Somebody shout all filled with the Holy Spirit. And they continue to speak the word of God with freedom and boldness and courage. Now I want you to see this in Acts chapter two.
The place was shaken and they were filled. Acts chapter four. They were filled again. So what is God trying to tell us? They needed refilling.
You need refilling. I need refilling. We all need refilling. Showing them is a continual refilling. How do you stay filled?
Let me give you some things. Spend time in God's word. Pray daily. Worship with all your heart. Obey the Holy Spirit quickly.
Stay in fellowship with other believers. Guard what enters your mind. That's a huge one. Guard what enters your mind. Continually surrender your life to Christ.
You've got to be surrendered. You got to ask him to help you. Ask him to fill you over and over. The Holy Spirit will only fill yielded vessels. What happens when we're filled?
We experience peace instead of panic. We experience joy instead of despair. We experience faith instead of fear. We experience confidence instead of insecurity. And then we experience victory instead of defeat.
Hope instead of discouragement. And watch this supernatural wisdom instead of confusion. We don't become problem free. We don't become problem free just because we have the Holy Spirit in us. We become spirit powered.
So the storm may rage around us, but the Spirit of God gives us peace within us. The greatest story is Jesus asleep in the boat when the storm was raging outside. Can I tell you, the storm on the outside did not get into Jesus on the inside. That's easier said than done. But I'm telling you, you've got to live from the inside out, not the outside end.
Somebody's going to hurt you. Somebody's going to lie on you. Somebody's going to do something against you. But guess what? Jesus always loves you.
He'll never leave you. He'll never forsake you. And the Holy Spirit will never leave you either, because he came to dwell in you. And he wants just to bring closeness to you. And he's wanting to hug you.
He's wanting to feel you. Listen, I feel in my spirit today. I'm going to close. Listen. It's like trying to push a freight train.
Anybody ever seen a train? It's like you behind the caboose and there's no engine, and you trying to push that train down the tracks. When you're trying to do it yourself, it cannot be done. But watch this. When the power of God is in you, and you go from the caboose to the engine, and you go sit in the driver's seat and you engage the power.
Come on, somebody. And allow the power of the engine to pull the train. All you do is just sit down and say, all right, Holy Ghost, let's go. We're going for a ride. Amen.
Let's go, Holy Ghost, let's go. He's your helper. He's your counselor. He's your advocate. He's your lawyer.
He's your strengthener. He's your standby. He's your comforter. Listen, in all these things, the Bible says, we are more than conquerors through him who loves us. Listen, you are not fighting for victory to overcome.
You're fighting from victory. Jesus already bought and paid for your victory. The problem is we're trying to do it in our own strength. And we've got to sit back and we got to spend some time in prayer, and we got to ask the Holy Spirit to help us and ask the Holy Spirit to fill us and be in close connection and communion with him and allow him to hug on you. Listen, you know why you get.
Stand on your feet today. Stand on your feet today. I'm closing. Praise the Lord. Do you know why today that you give.
Like when the presence of God and they're singing. The presence of God is so powerful. If you don't mind, just let her play. I don't need any singing. Just let.
Just. If you don't mind, just play. You know why you. You get emotional when the power and the presence of God is so, so strong in a service? Because that's him bringing himself close.
Because when you do this, you offer up worship to him, he's going to pour back in.
So every day, imagine you don't have to just experience this on a Sunday. You can turn on praise and worship yourself. You can open the Bible yourself. You can start calling on God, yourself.
When you start worshiping him, I promise he's coming down.
He's hugging on you. He's letting you know. I know it's been hard, and I know it's been tough, but everything is going to be all right.
It's not about my efforts. It's not about my name. It's not about how I was brought up. It's nothing but about him. It's all about Him.
I said it's all about him.
So with every head bowed, every eye closed, please, nobody moving and look around just for a moment. I just want to make sure. If you're in this place today. Just give me just a minute. If you're in this place today and you've never been saved, you want to be saved, you're away from God and you need to come back to God.
This is the day that the Lord has made. He made it just for you. Tomorrow is promised to no man, no woman, no boy, no girl. If it's the. If it.
If it's you right now, you've never been saved and want to be saved away from God, need to come back to God. If that's you, on the count of three, I want you to lift up your hand. One, two, three. Anybody in the building? Come on, lift it up high.
Lift it up high where I can sit you. You've never been saved. You want to be saved away from God? Need to come back to God. If that's you, lift up your hand.
All right. If you lifted your hand, if you lifted up your hand, I want you to do this. Get out of that aisle and come down here and meet me real quick. Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry. Come on, come on, come on.
Respond, respond, Respond. Respond. Come on, let him hug on you. Come on. Let him hug on you.
Let him hug on you. Come on. Praise the Lord. Come on. Saints begin to praise the Lord.
Come on, come on, come on, come on. Hallelujah. Praise God. Praise God. Thank you, sir.
Come on, come on, come on. Thank you, ma'. Am. Thank you, sir. Is this it?
Anybody else? You never been saved and want to be saved away from God? Did he come back to God? This is the business of the Kingdom of God right here. This is what heaven rejoices over, is souls being saved.
Our vision this year is to see 75 souls saved. This right here makes about 45 already this year. 45. Amen. Praise God.
Listen. You believe Jesus died on the cross for your sins. You believe he rose again on the third day. You believe Jesus died on the cross for your Sins. He rose again on the third day.
You believe Jesus died on the cross for your sins? He rose again on the third day day. And he's sitting at the right hand of the Father. He's alive and well. He's praying for you and for me.
You believe that? I want you to throw up your hands. I want you to say this prayer out loud with me. Say, lord Jesus. Come on, say this out loud.
Say, lord Jesus, I come to you as a sinner. And I ask you right now to forgive me of all my sins. I ask you, Lord Jesus, to come into my heart. Set me free. I ask you, the Lord Jesus, to be my Lord and be my savior.
Say, devil, you are not my God. I'll never serve you again. But Jesus is the Lord of my life. Say, thank you, Jesus. I receive forgiveness.
I receive you as my savior. Thank you, Jesus. I am saved and on my way to heaven. Come on, shout it. I am saved and I'm on my way to heaven.
Hallelujah. Glory to God. Glory to God. Now listen, here's a couple of things you need to do. Number one, if you don't have a home church, you're in one.
Stay in it. You're in it. Stay in it. You know why it's a good church? Because I'm here.
And pastors here. Watch this. Number two, get baptized. They're having a baptism next week. He just announced what is a baptism?
Baptism doesn't save you. Baptism is an outward sign of what Jesus done on the inside. And it's given a testimony to all that want to come in here. Jesus saved me and he's washing me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. And then the next thing you need to do is get a Bible.
You got a Bible? I'll get you a Bible. You got a Bible? You got a Bible? You got a Bible?
Begin to read in the Bible. Listen in the New Testament. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The words in red are the words of Jesus. Now listen to me.
I'm gonna help you right here, pattern your life after Jesus. Listen to me. People will disappoint you. People will disappoint you. People will disappoint you.
But if you never expect anything from anybody, you'll never be disappointed.
If you never expect anything from anybody. Body. But one you can expect from is Jesus. Do you hear me? He will never leave you.
He'll never forsake you and he'll never hurt you again. He'll never leave you and never forsake you. He'll Never leave you nor forsake you. Keep your eyes on Jesus and then begin to pray. How do you pray?
Just like you talk on the phone. Praise the Lord. There's a brand new Bible. How do you talk in prayer? Just like you do on the phone.
That's how you talk to God. God, I'm frustrated. God, I need help. Just talk to him. Just like that.
But here's the thing. Two sides of prayer. There's the talking and then there's the listening. Get in his presence so he can talk back. Amen.
Stay in church. Stay in church. Can I pray for you, ma'? Am? Father, I thank you that the Holy Spirit of God.
Aha.
Is hugging her today. You're bringing yourself close to her today. She knows you as her Lord and Savior. But I thank you, Holy Spirit, that you'll come and minister spirit, soul and body. Thank you, Lord.
Defeat is least. Discouragement is leaving. Pain is leaving. Hope is here. Victory is here.
Faith is here. Overcoming power is here. Greater is he now that's in her than he that is in the world. Jesus name, be free. Be free.
Be free. Be free. In Jesus name. In Jesus name. In Jesus name.
In Jesus name. In Jesus name. Now here's what I saw, and I don't know how this gonna go. Thank you, guys. Y' all can be seated.
Amen. Praise the Lord. I don't. I don't know how this gonna go. Come on.
Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah.
I don't know how this is gonna go. This is what I saw, and I got to do what I saw.
But I saw Sister Amanda. I know they can play music, if you don't mind coming down here. I saw me and my wife down here, and I saw Pastor Andrew and Sister Amanda down here. So if y' all will come on. This is what I saw.
If you're struggling today, if you need healing today, if you're ready for addictions to fall off of you, today, You're coming down here. But I need the men to come to me and Pastor Andrew and the women to come to Tamela. Sister Amanda. And all we're going to do is give you a hug. Now, it can't be long because I don't know how many people's coming down here, but we're going to represent the Holy Spirit coming on you and coming in you.
And he's going to drive out every addiction. He's going to drive out every sickness. He's going to drive out every fear. He's going to drive out everything in the name of Jesus if you need it, Come on if you need it Come on if you need it, Come on. Praise God, God, Praise God.
Praise God. Praise God. Jesus name.
