Oasis: Waters in the Wilderness
Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 35:6-7
6 Then the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb sing. For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert. 7 The parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water; In the habitation of jackals, where each lay, there shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
Oasis: a fertile or green area in an arid region (such as a desert)/ something that provides refuge, relief, or pleasant contrast
Romans 11:17-18 (NKJV)
17 And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree, 18 do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you.
We, as Gentiles, have been grafted into the family of God by Grace through Faith in Jesus the Messiah. We are partakers of the promises and the blessing of Israel because we have been grafted in. To this Prophecy there is a Natural and a Spiritual fulfillment.
Natural Fulfillment
Spiritual Fulfillment
Isaiah 58:11 (NKJV)
11 The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
Jeremiah 31:12 (NKJV)
12 Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, Streaming to the goodness of the Lord— For wheat and new wine and oil, For the young of the flock and the herd; Their souls shall be like a well-watered garden, and they shall sorrow no more at all.
1 Corinthians 10:4 (NKJV)
4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.
Zechariah 14:16-17 (NKJV)
16 And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. 17 And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, on them there will be no rain
John 7:37-39 (NKJV)
37 On the last day, that great day of the feast( the last day of the feast of tabernacles, at the temple where they were praying for rain and the Messiah), Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Who Are We Trusting?
Jeremiah 17:5-8 (NKJV)
5 Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the Lord. 6 He is like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see any good come.
He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land. 7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. 8 He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream,
and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.
Jeremiah 17:5 & 7
“Cursed is the man who trusts in man,” but “blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord.”
Tragedies, trials, and trauma do not cause fruitlessness;
Trusting in anything other than God to satisfy us does.
Jeremiah 2:13 (NKJV)
13 for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.
John 4:14 (NKJV)
“Whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
John 7:38 (NKJV)
“Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water’”
Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NKJV)
7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. 8 He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”’
