Satan doesn’t always attack with obvious lies – sometimes he twists Scripture itself to lead us astray. In Jesus’s second temptation, the devil quoted Psalm 91 out of context, trying to get Jesus to force God’s hand and seek popularity through a spectacular miracle. Jesus resisted because He didn’t need man’s approval and trusted God’s better plan. Today, we face similar temptations to seek validation through social media and human approval. The truth is, we don’t need to be popular in people’s eyes because we’re already the apple of God’s eye. When we change what we’re looking to, we change what we’re looking for.
