Roots Bear Fruit: From Bitter to Better Roots

5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

A man is not established by wickedness, but the ROOT of the righteous cannot be moved.

For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches.

Better Roots Must Be Planted

Psalm 92: 12-14
12 The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13 Those who are PLANTED in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing,

Better Roots Must be Watered

Jeremiah 17: 7-8
7  “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. 8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.

Psalm 1: 1-3
1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of Water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.

2 Timothy 1: 7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Better Roots Must be Fertilized

Luke 13: 6-9
6 He also spoke this parable: “A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. 7 Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, ‘Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?’ 8 But he answered and said to him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. 9 And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that you can cut it down.’ ”

2 Kings 19: 30-31
30 And the remnant who have escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward. 31 For out of Jerusalem shall go a remnant, and those who escape from Mount Zion. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

Isaiah 61: 1-3
1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2  To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, 3 To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
